Happy Holidays!

As we all get ever closer to a much needed break, the team at Rationale want to wish all our clients, partners and friends a very merry Christmas and happy holidays.

It’s been another big year, with some significant milestones for us as a business and for members of the Rationale whanau.

Two of our team became first time parents this year, with Emily Walker and husband Matt welcoming Isobel to their family in June, and Benja Gonzalez and wife Nicola seeing the arrival of Amalia in October. All are doing awesome and settling into the new life of parents of little humans – Congrats guys!!

On the subject of new arrivals, we have also welcomed a number of new team members this year. David Stone and Annabelle Cullinane have joined the Arrowtown office, with Lucy Riddle, Conor McLean, Kirsten Housiaux bolstering our growing Wellington team. Chris French and Laura Harding will be joining the team in Wellington early in the new year.

Needless to say we all work as one team, but there is a healthy inter-office competitive spirit growing between the northern and southern divisions, which is great fun.

On the work front we have had a busy year with its fair share of innovation, challenge and success. We’ve been working with a range of existing and new clients on some really interesting projects. Our presence in Wellinton has seen us working on some significant investment projects with a number of Central Government clients.

We’ve been involved in real progress in the local government space, but have also seen a lot of uncertainty around the implications of a change of government and what this means at the local level. Three waters reform and city and regional deals are two areas we’re involved with and will be watching closely over the next twelve months, as well as the interplay between Central and Local Government.

In July this year we partnered with a platform called CarbonInvoice. This allows us to analyse our yearly accounts and understand what our carbon footprint is. We then use this information to work out how many trees we would need to plant to offset our emissions. The magic of partnering with CarbonInvoice, is that they then ensure all the trees required to offset our emissions are native trees, planted in restoration projects.

Since partnering with CabonInvoice we have seen 326 native trees put in the ground, which is a great result for us as a business, our clients and – most importantly – our natural environment.

In between the work we do with our clients, we’ve managed to sneak in a couple of Rationale adventures, which are always a great opportunity to catch up with the wider team outside of the office and enjoy each other’s company. Our annual Gobblers Lodge trip saw the team get their skis on up Coronet Peak, while our Christmas adventure was based out of Riverton, with perfect weather, great fishing and awesome people.

Of course, Rationale wouldn’t exist without the support of our clients and partners. We have enjoyed working with you all over the past twelve months, and we’re looking forward to more of the same next year.

Needless to say, we’re all looking forward to a great break with family and friends, ready to come back energised and keen for another year of challenges both in and out of the office.

So, from everyone here at the Rationale Team – Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and have an awesome time over the break!
