OUR PEOPLE CRAIG MCLEAN

Chief Operating Officer

PROFESSIONAL OVERVIEW

Craig joined Rationale as Chief Operating Officer in July 2016, bringing with him a wealth of experience, across a wide range of industries.

Previous roles have included being CFO for one of New Zealand’s leading hospitality groups, Financial Controller for Queenstown Airport Corporation, 8 years managing software teams and projects for a leading provider of global treasury management systems and a variety of analyst roles in the banking sector, both in New Zealand and overseas.

During his 25+ year career to date, he has developed strengths in team leadership, strategic planning, financial reporting & analysis and system design.

While his primary focus at Rationale is to ensure that it meets its own strategic objectives, Craig also provides input into financial modelling projects for clients, where his accounting and finance background compliments Rationale’s engineering knowledge.

PERSONAL OVERVIEW

Craig loves Arrowtown, where he lives with his wife and three children. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing and generally keeping fit and active.

While not at the same crazy level as others in the office, he has competed in the Motatapu mountain bike event several times and run the Queenstown Half Marathon and Rakiura Challenge Trail run.

As a bass player and guitarist, Craig is also Rationale’s in-house muso.  This qualifies him for the important role of maintaining the integrity of the office Spotify playlists, where he quickly quashes any questionable tunes that might get served up.

Although he still occasionally gigs in and around Arrowtown, he now mostly lives the rock’n’roll dream vicariously, through his teenage son’s band, for which he is the unofficial and underpaid manager.
