Effective Organisations

An organisation that is receptive to change is an organisation that is capable of progress.

By bringing an objective and an independent view as to how your organisation operates and how your people perform, we can offer insights into opportunities for improvement. We have a team of seasoned executives who can blend a highly consultative review process, with deep analysis and practical experience.

Our team hasn’t simply reviewed other client organisations, they have personally managed large-scale reviews and changes within their own organisations which means you can have confidence in the practicality of our advice.

Governance

Whether your organisation is large or small, it is likely to have a variety of governance and management structures and decision-making points. You will also likely have people with varying governance experience and skills. Having operated at the intersection of governance and management, particularly the divide between political governance and executive management, we can help you define the respective roles of people within your organisation in a manner that best enables smooth functioning governance, management, planning and reporting. Many of our Senior Staff have completed Company Director Training and are members of the Institute of Directors.

Specific ways we can help you:

  • Reviewing the effectiveness and appropriateness of your current governance arrangements /li>
  • Developing or reviewing the terms of reference for governance groups, including at a project level.
  • Drafting governance policies
  • Acting as external advisors to governance groups

Organisational Reviews

Whether it is a small team, a large business unit, or your entire organisation, we have broad experience in using hard data to analyse an operation and recommending practical and effective ways for improvement. We can help you assess current performance against benchmarked standards, define core roles and functions, and advise you on the best options for teams and organisations to carry out their tasks efficiently and effectively.

Organisational Efficiency & Effectiveness

The ongoing statutory obligation of local authorities to review the cost-effectiveness of their services can either be viewed as an undesirable compliance exercise or a valuable opportunity to maximise the success of your organisation and provide your ratepayers with real value for money. With a wealth of practical local government experience in operational delivery, our team can make a Section 17A review a motivating experience for staff and a chance to revitalise the delivery of council services.

Specific ways we can help you:

  • Conducting and evidence-based review of current cost-effectiveness relative to other authorities.
  • Ensuring a legislatively compliant review.
  • Using ILM and BBC methodologies to develop alternative service delivery options.
  • Peer reviewing 17A reports.
  • Assisting with the delivery of any changes arising from 17A reviews.

Business Process Reviews

The bigger your organisation, the greater the need for your systems and processes to be well-documented, efficient and effective. We can help you to improve those processes mapping them, carrying out critical analysis using hard data, and then developing options for cost-efficiency and improved client service.

Specific ways we can help you:

  • Mapping and identifying critical processes within your organisation
  • Identifying inefficiencies, risks, and decision points within a process.
  • Obtaining user feedback to better to understand what works systems and processes work well and what don’t.
  • Undertaking analysis, redesign and implementing new processes which work more effectively and efficiently

Change Management

We understand that humans often fear change. There is a tendency to feel that if you’ve been doing something for a long time, it must be right. Therefore, planning and delivering an organisational change can be a challenging prospect for many leaders. We recognise the complexity of these situations and we understand how to bring together strategic, commercial, communications and human resources activities to get the right outcome. If change feels like walking off a cliff blindfolded, then people will reject it. That’s why we put communication and engagement at the core of the process. Our team has significant expertise in managing change and we can help you make the transition smoothly and effectively.

Specific ways we can help you:

  • Assess the situation to best understand your problems and potential change benefits.
  • Development of change or transition management plans.
  • Identification and analysis of potential operating models and structures.
  • Business process improvement and change.
  • Stakeholder engagement and communication planning.
  • Benefits realisation management.
