PROFESSIONAL OVERVIEW

Annika joined in August 2026, bringing eight years of worldwide experience in the shipping industry across market risk analysis and data engineering.

Over the past two years, she has worked remotely as a freelance consultant for shipping firms, developing data, reporting, and decision-support tools while also making the most of consecutive winter seasons between New Zealand and Canada.

Her background has seen her work closely with traders, finance, treasury, and senior management to turn complex information into clear insight and practical decision-making.

Annika now brings that analytical, commercial, and data-led approach to Rationale's work, supporting councils to understand complex challenges and make well-informed decisions.

 

PERSONAL OVERVIEW

Originally from Denmark, Annika moved to New Zealand two years ago and now calls Wānaka home.

She recently spent six months in Canada skiing, which says a lot about how she likes to spend her time outside work.

She is happiest outdoors and has a soft spot for the kind of adventures that involve a little bit of suffering along the way—long days in the mountains, challenging climbs, cold starts, big missions, and the satisfaction that comes from earning the view.

When she is not analysing numbers, she is usually out with her partner Jake skiing, touring, climbing, or tramping somewhere in the mountains.
